Program  Description At Le Melange Academy you will be training for a career, not just another job. To do this successfully, you will have to pursue your studies and training as a commitment to do your very best.    This means that a level of effort will be expected from you that is consistent with what will be demanded of you in a salon. With this strategy, every student will find out very clearly what his or her capabilities are and can be. You are training for the future with a school that will take you into the new millenium of hair design and esthetics.   Your performance at our school is an indication of what you will do in a salon. There is no magic switch to turn you into a professional stylist or esthetician if you have not achieved that goal by the time you have finished school. We operate as an Academy but we want the same atmosphere as a professional working salon. Our advanced students work in a beautiful school area.   We have in the same building, a working salon, staffed with licensed professionals. These professionals show our basic learning skills as an Academy put to work in a professional salon.  We are one of the first academies to incorporate a working salon in the same building.  We are proud of our Academy and Salon and feel we have a unique situation for students to learn to be the best they can be. You will have knowledge of products and services our Academy  provides. You will be taught to sell   retail products  or other services to the clientele. This will help you to increase earnings as a professional and most   Most salons give you a percentage of your sales. Salon owners will be impressed that you are knowledgeable and  interested in the salon as a whole. Our dress code is such as to reflect a clean, professional look.   We dress in solid black or white  pants and solid black or white shirts.   Cosmetology and Manicuring students are issued a black professional jacket in their kits and Estheticians receive a white jacket.  We are  proud of our look. We feel a neat and tidy look is carried on to the job interview and shows you care about  yourself and how people see you. During the first six weeks (cosmetology), three weeks (esthetics), of your training, you will receive all the basic practical skills and theory related to the course.   You will be taking exams after each subject. You will have a complete series of tests to complete(some on your own) to prepare you to take the written exam at State Board.   You will have a Baby Board exam with your model to help you prepare for your practical board exam.   We will expect at least 75% passing on all tests to qualify you to take the State Board exam.    You will understand when you receive the fantastic job you  have always wanted and can function along with your fellow employees.   Many of our students are very proud and feel totally qualified to apply for top jobs.
